USHER SLIPS UP IN THE UK! | 0 Comments | Join the message boards

R&B star Usher had his foot firmly in his mouth this weekend after shouting "Hello Manchester" to 20,000 music fans in Kent.

The 29-year-old made the embarrassing geographical slip-up at the beginning of his set at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Maidstone, prompting boos from sections of the crowd.

But the Love in This Club singer rebounded from the early setback to faultlessly preview some new material and reel off classic tracks.

Usher's gig followed performances from the Fratellis, Goldfrapp and Robyn at Mote Park, which was host to the biggest free ticketed festival in Europe.

In anticipation of the release of his eagerly awaited album Here I Stand - Usher will sit down with global social media network Bebo for his first ever live, streamed, interactive interview at 8pm on Thursday the 8th of May and talk directly to his fans.
The live interview will feature tracks from the album and the opportunity for fans to put their questions to him.

Originally scheduled for a June release the highly anticipated album 'Here I Stand' has been pushed up to 27th of May in order to satiate increasing global demand from all of his fans.
With the first single from the album 'Love in this Club' currently rocketing up the UK charts, this is an opportunity for Usher fans to get answers to the questions they have always wanted to ask.

In his time away from the spotlight Usher has been extremely busy. Not only has he become a husband and father, he has only starred on Broadway as Billy Flynn in hit musical Chicago, launched a fragrance and headed up his charity, New Look Foundation, so there is lots to talk about!

Usher's Phone Interview With Teenmusic | Read more ? 1 Comments | Join the message boards

TeenMusic: What is your favorite song on this new album and why?

Usher: My favorite thing that I did on this album are the Interludes. I did an interlude to my son that I call "Pray for You." One of my greatest written pieces of work in my life. It's really incredible.

TeenMusic: I just wondered if you had any film projects in the works. Are you still putting acting on the backburner or are you thinking about coming back to the screen?

TeenMusic: You've grown a lot in your personal life since the last album. How does maturing affect...

Usher: [My] Sex appeal? I think that wisdom is sexy. I think that growth is sexy. I think that confidence, which is growth, and being comfortable in your skin is all sexy, but I (don't) want to relate all that to sexy because that's part of my mission, to kind of change what that view of attractive is.

TeenMusic: So you feel that you are more comfortable and confident now?

Usher: In time, you know, we grow older, we grow wiser, we grow smarter, we're better. And I feel like, I'm becoming more well seasoned, although I don't have my salt-and-pepper hair. I have that in life, and my life experiences speak to it. Of course there's a big difference, because I'm balancing a few things. One, you know, my personal life, and then, two my business responsibilities. Finding the balance is going to be hard, but I love it and I'm dedicated to making sure that this project is a success no matter what.

I'M NO PICTURE PIMP - USHER | 1 Comments | Join the message boards

FINALLY, there's one celebrity who refuses to cash in on parenthood by selling baby pictures to a magazine. "In no way would I ever pimp out my child for money," Usher told Page Six.

The pop singer - upset by rumors he was trying to sell photos of his infant son, Usher Raymond V, and eager to defend his wife, Tameka, and his upcoming album, "Here I Stand" - wants to set the record straight.

"I am livid that people talk about my child," Usher told us. In fact, he has posed - for free - with his son for an "incredible" Father's Day cover for Essence magazine.

"What makes you a man more than being a father to your child? I recognize I gave anonymity away when I became an artist, but to have people try to paint a horrible picture of what's so beautiful - it's obvious someone is trying to stop something so beautiful."

As for embattled spouse Tameka - who has been blamed for the firing of most of Usher's music team, for not getting along with his mother, Jonetta Patton, and for being jealous of other women - Usher says, just get over it.

"I stand by her as a man loving my wife and being there for my child . . . Opinions are like [bleep]holes. Everybody's got one. What I will say is, this is my wife and I would hope that [people] would respect my wife and my marriage and who I have chosen to spend my life with."

Regarding talk that his album underwhelmed a few critics, Usher fumed, "It was just finished on Friday! And no one but a few international journalists have heard it yet. Everybody responded very well to it.

"They noted that it was very courageous to take this direction in my music . . . They called it timeless."

In addition to Essence, Usher will grace the covers of Entertainment Weekly and Vibe and has already booked a coveted slot on "Saturday Night Live."

Usher: London Here I Come | 0 Comments | Join the message boards

Usher is due in the UK tomorrow to promote new album Here I Stand – which hits shops on May 26.

If you’re an Usher fan and want to meet him, I’d start hitting London’s clubs.

Despite him marrying and becoming a dad last year, the singer has no intention of slowing his party lifestyle while he’s over here.

Usher has requested a list of London’s top hotspots for him and his 30-strong entourage. And he’ll also be throwing a huge celebrity party to launch the record.

Usher's Soon-Due Album More Personal, Mature | 0 Comments | Join the message boards

Sounds like Usher's long-awaited follow-up to his multi-Grammy-winning 2004 "Confessions" CD will be an even more intimate look into the superstar singer's life. "It's very personal. Usher is in a completely different place than where he was on the last record. He's married now. He's a father. He's definitely matured, and I think you're going to hear that through the music," reports Iz Avila, half of the Grammy-winning producing team The Avila Brothers, who masterminded several tunes on "Confessions" with his brother/partner Bobby Avila.

The new album, due May 27, is titled "Here I Stand." "People keep asking, 'Is it better than 'Confessions'? It's a great record overall," says Iz "He's taking the listeners on the adventure with him." The brothers produced the tune "Play Me" on the new Usher album. Meanwhile, Iz and Bobby -- who've worked with such heavy hitters as Mary J. Blige, Gwen Stefani, Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey and Missy Elliott, most recently winning two Grammys for Chaka Khan's "Funk This" -- continue to keep all burners going at once.

"We're real excited about the two records we just finished for Sean Garrett's new album, 'Turbo 919,'" says Avila. "We've been working with Taboo from The Black Eyed Peas the last three months. We're finishing a mix for Anthony Hamilton. His album 'Point of It All' is dropping during this summer. And next we're going to be doing a couple records for Jamie Foxx."
